Ozone Air Water Sterilizer Circuit

How to make an Electronic Air  Water Food Sterlizer or Purifier circuit at home

Ozone is a pale blue colored gas having a pungent smell or order (alike chlorine) with the chemical formula of O3. In the atmosphere ozone is produced due to the presence of Oxygen and strong UV rays or electrical discharges during thunder storms or lightnings.

This phenomenon produce ozone basically by knocking down the dioxide molecules (O2) which is present plentifully in the atmosphere, resulting in the reaction O2 → 2O. Where O is free nascent oxygen.

Then the resultant free radicals generated during above phenomenon as 2O collide around with each other forming  the ozone gas O. This process continues as long as the source which is lightning arcs or UV rays is present.

Here in this circuit we are using the property that by nature Ozone is a very strong oxidant even stronger than dioxides. This property of ozone is helpful in killing germs, parasites and other microorganisms which may be regarded as pests and hence is used as sterilizer for disinfecting or sterilize or purify Air, Water or Food.

However, the strong oxidizing property of ozone could be also harmful for humans and animals and could cause respiratory disorders if inhaled for longer periods of time inside a non-ventilated premise.

The above discussion shows that ozone can be actually produced very easily either through electrical arcing or through UV rays and used for sterilizing air, water or food appropriately.

Producing an artificial arcing or discharge can be simply done by using a boost circuit method in which a high frequency is dumped into a booster coil for generating the required high voltage necessary for electric arcing. The resultant voltage being in kiloVolts can be forced to arc by bringing ground terminal close to the high voltaage terminal from the coil.

The best way of doing this could be using a CDI circuit for the ignition coil as the kiloVolts generator, which normally used in vehicles for generating ignition sparks inside the spark plug for burning of fuel.

The above electronic circuit diagram illustrates that how a CDI circuit may be used as a ozone generator for sterilizing or purifying water, air, food and various items like cloths room etc...

Here the 555 IC circuit is used for triggering TR2 which is an ordinary step down iron cored transformer. It's primary is oscillated at its rated voltage through a frequency set by the 100kohm preset or potentiometer.

Here the results is the induction of 220Volt or whatever may the rating of the secondary high voltage winding of the transformer used above.

This induced 220Volt is fed to the following CDI or the capacitive discharge ignition stage consisting the scr or Thyristor and the ignition coil as the main components or the above proposed circuit.

Here the SCR or thyristor along with the high voltage capacitor and the associated diodes fire at the given frequency forcing the 105/400V capacitor to charge/discharge rapidly, dumping the stored 220V at the same rate into the ignition primary coil.

Here the result is the generation of around 20,000 volts at the secondary high voltage output of the ignition coil (note: be careful while making this circuit at home).

This output here is appropriately terminated close to another terminal derived from the negative of the supply.

Here when once the above set up is configured, the arcing initiated instantly causing the ozone to be generated around the spark zone. 

Since the excess generation of the ozone can be harmful for the humans or animals( or living beings) in the premise, the circuit could be triggered through a programmable timer circuit or chip such that it stays switched ON only for some predefined period of time and gets switched OFF automatically once the set time elapses. Here this would ensure the safe amount of ozone to be produced in the premise.

 The arcing should be introduced inside any chamber wherein the intended materials or ingredients may be placed safely and the system switched ON for initiating the sterilizing actions through the generated ozone gas.
